  1. In PCSX2, choose Tools > Open Data Directory and open patches.
  2. Save this download there as SLUS-21847_F233A433.pnach. Portable example: <PCSX2 folder>\patches\SLUS-21847_F233A433.pnach.
  3. Right-click the game, open Properties > Patches, reload the list if needed, and enable the intended named patch sections and their required dependencies.
  4. Start the game from a fresh boot. Follow this feature's setup, controls, conflicts and recovery instructions.

Keep alternative modules separate. The ZIP is an archive of alternatives; do not enable everything together.

Setup instructions

  1. Confirm the US game serial SLUS-21847 and CRC F233A433. Shut down the emulated game and keep any existing patch backup outside the patches folder.
  2. Open PCSX2 Tools > Open Data Directory, open patches, and save this complete download as SLUS-21847_F233A433.pnach without .txt. In game Properties > Patches enable Native Gold/Black player colors in M.O.M., then boot fresh.
  3. This file does not unlock Gold/Black. Earn the native per-character unlock first, or manage a separate unlock code explicitly. The runtime research used disposable unlock-only fixtures that are not in this download.
  4. Enter ordinary M.O.M. without a Gold/EX opponent shortcut. If you want Hard M.O.M., first set native Options difficulty to HARD; that is separate from a Gold-opponent route.
  5. On character select use your bound Respect action to cycle banks and your bound Dust action for the fifth color. Slash Gold and Reload Black retain their normal form after confirmation. Default R2/R1 labels apply only with default bindings.
  6. Play normally, or use the existing CPU module with its separately configured player level. To preserve an installed CPU module, append the M.O.M. named section plus four patch lines to that same PNACH instead of overwriting the CPU file; enable both sections.
  7. Gold and Black retain native character behavior. In observed Black M.O.M. Sol, the game maintained100% Tension; the code does not write the meter or force a form. Native Gold effects were separately verified.
  8. To return to stock restrictions, disable the section and shut down/reboot. Loading a modded save state or unticking without a reboot does not reliably restore original instructions.
  9. Verified scope is bounded: Sol Gold/Black M.O.M., distinct Sol/Ky native VS pairs, and one Gold Dizzy/CPU0/HARD M.O.M. round. Same-character forced mirrors, every character, all other modes and full campaigns remain separate research.

Effect

Keep your unlocked Gold or Black character choice in ordinary M.O.M., with the game applying the native form effects.

Test result

Matched Sol tests show stock M.O.M. removing Gold/Black, the four-word patch retaining them, and fresh code-off restoring stock behavior. Black Sol retained palette 19 / variant 2 and native 100% Tension at live battle and 600 frames later. Parent checks passed with unchanged source/copied cards. A separate Gold Dizzy + player CPU 0 + Options HARD test won its first round against ordinary Testament. Unlocked Sol/Ky Gold-v-Gold and Black-v-Black already work natively in VS; a real attack hit in each, with 100% Tension on both Black fighters. The new Black M.O.M. attack input whiffed. Same-character forcing, every character, full clears and endurance remain unverified.

Use and recovery

Kindsimple code
ControlsEnter M.O.M. normally. For ordinary opponents, release mode-entry modifiers before confirming.; In character select, Respect cycles the color banks and Dust selects the fifth color: Slash-bank Gold, Reload-bank Black. These are bound game actions; default Respect=R2 and Dust=R1.; Confirm your character normally. The native per-character Gold/Black unlock must already be available.
EnablePlace SLUS-21847_F233A433.pnach in Tools > Open Data Directory > patches; enable Native Gold/Black player colors in M.O.M. in game Properties > Patches and boot fresh.
DisableDisable the section and shut down/reboot the emulated game. Unticking alone leaves patched instructions in RAM until reboot.
ResetUse native character selection and native campaign/pause controls. Reboot with the patch disabled to restore stock palette restrictions.
PersistenceThe patch writes only four executable words. It changes no unlock, ranking, save, HP or variant data directly; native M.O.M. may still save ordinary progress. Tested source/copied cards were unchanged.
RequiresNone
Conflicts withNone
  • US SLUS-21847 v1.00 / CRC F233A433 only; P1 Sol Gold/Black native matrix and separate Gold Dizzy first-round example. Other characters and campaign clears are unverified.
  • This is a palette access patch, not an unlock, opponent-route shortcut, CPU controller or stat replacement. It leaves native Gold/Black effects and every other mode gate intact.
  • Distinct-character unlocked Sol/Ky Gold-v-Gold and Black-v-Black need no access patch in VS. The same-character duplicate-color rule changes identical Gold to Black or identical Black to Gold; forcing that mirror is not qualified.
  • Older research recorded the Tension gain modifier rather than the current meter. Direct meter readback confirms 100% for both fighters in the observed native Black VS pair, and for P1 Black Sol in M.O.M.
  • Standalone download uses the canonical filename and replaces a same-named file. To combine with an existing CPU module, append only this named section and its four patch lines to the existing file and enable both sections. The bounded combined example is Gold Dizzy/CPU0/HARD first round; no blanket combination or Black CPU endurance claim.
